ISAPI Filters Error

If you get an error that looks like this:

HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error Calling LoadLibraryEx on ISAPI filter  
"C:\\Windows\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\v4.0.30319\\aspnet_filter.dll" failed

You basically have an extra slash in the path name that needs to be removed. Fixing it is quite easy though, fortunately!

  • Run inetmgr
  • Expand Sites in left panel
  • Click on actual site
  • Double-click ISAPI Filters
  • Find the offending entry - you are looking for one with a double-slash
  • Select it
  • Right click
  • Edit
  • Remove the extra forward slash in the associated entry
  • Click OK
